Birmingham Giants 11u win Second Tournament

The Birmingham Giants 11u won their second tournament of the 2018 spring season in pelham on saturday, running their season mark to 8-6. In their first game of pool play the Giants squared off with the Hoover Pirates. Caden Cain started the game on the mound, pitching 2 innings, striking out 2, before Max Holingsworth closed out the game, striking out 3 over 2 innings of the Giants 6-4 win. At the Plate, the Giants offense registered 5 Hits (Caden Cain (2), Trevor Cox (1), Isiaha Miles (1), and  Chris Jackson (1)) to power their 6 runs.

Kolton Hudgins Birmingham Giants 11u

In the second game of pool play, the Giants were scheduled to play the Coosa Raiders. Brody Jackson started the game on the mound, before being relieved by Jamison Green, who struck out 3 over the final 2 innings of the 9-7 win. Jamison Green (1), Kolten Hudgins (1), Ethan Bucher (1),  Caleb Johnson (1) and Caden Cain (HR) all had hits for the Birmingham Giants in the come back win. The win seated the Giants as the first seed going into bracket play.

In their first bracket play game, the Giants were again paired with the Hoover Pirates. Max Hollingsworth started the game on the mound, striking out 5 over 3 innings, before being relieved by Caden Cain who struck out 4 over the last 2 innings. The Giants trailed early for the 3rd game in a row, before coming back to win 8-7. At the plate Jamison Green (1), Kolten Hudgins (1), Caden Cain (1), Caleb Johnson (1), and Trevor Cox (1) all had hits for the Giants. The comeback win moved the Giants into the championship game, where the would play Top Gun.

Caden Cain started the championship game on the mound, pitching the first 2 innings, striking out 1, before being relived by Ethan Bucher, who closed out the final 2 innings with 2 strikeouts. Caden Cain (1), Ethan Bucher (2), Jay Fuller (2, 2 2B), Calen Johnson (2B), Trevor Cox (1), Isiah Miles (2), Brody Jackson (2), and Parker Stewart (2, 1 2B) all had hits for the Giants in the 12-3 win.

The Birmingham Giants 11u play again next weekend.
