04 Birmingham Giants Finish 6th in State

In their first season, the 04 Birmingham Giants finished 6th in the Alabama state tournament, posting a 2-2 record, raising their first season record to 14-7 on the season.

In game 1 of pool play, the 04 Birmingham Giants faced off with the North Alabama dream. The Giants struggled defensively throughout their first game, allowing most of the runs scored to be unearned. At the plate hits Came from Taylor Mancone (1), Alyssa Faircloth (1), Jayla Hansen (HR), Jenna York (2), Nattie Miles (3b) and Raegan Thrasher (1), but the offense could not over come the defensive misques and the Giants fell 11-6.

Nattie Miles Birmingham Giants

Their second game of pool play, Ryleigh Merrit took the circle, pitching all 4 innings, allowing 2 hits over the 4 innings, striking out 5 enroute to the 6-0 win. Offensively the Giants were paced by Taylor Mancone (1), Alyssa Faircloth (1), Nattie Miles (1), Raegan Thrasher (1), and Ryleigh Merrit (1) to help the Giants push across 6 runs. The win seated the Giants 2nd in their pool and schedule them to match up with Team Ice in their first bracket play game.  Raegan Thrasher started the game, working 4 innings allowing just 2 hits, while striking out 3, before being relieved by Alyssa Faircloth who pitched the 2 extra innings frames. Hits came from Taylor Mancone (2), Alyssa Faircloth (2, 2b), Nattie Miles (2), Jenna York (1), Jayla Hansen (2, HR), Trinity Holloway (1), Mikayla Cardwell (2, 3b), and Ryleigh Merrit (1). With the game tied after 1 extra inning, the Giants erupted for a 5 run final frame to walk away with the 9-5.

GIANT POLOGROUNDSIn the next game of bracket play, the Giants were matched up with the spain park jags. Unfortunatly the Giants struggles on defense cost them with 5 unearned runs in the 6-0 loss. In the Circle, Raegan Thrasher Started the game , before being relieved by Alyssa Faircloth in the 3rd inning. At the plate Giant hits came from Taylor Mancone (1), Jayla Hansen (2), and Mikayla Cardwell (1). The loss eliminated the Giants who finished their day in 6th place.
