10U Birmingham Giants Carroll brings home Title


As the season begins to wind down for the summer of their 10u season, the Birmingham Giants 10u Carroll grabbed another first place trophy posting a 5-1 record. In their first pool play game, Skylan Dyson started in the circle, and allowed no hits over 3 innings, while striking out 6 and 10 Giant hits (Khloe Kennedy , Ralee Burgett (2B), Haylee Gothard (2B,3B), Harper Riley (2), Skylan Dyson, Heidi Garzarek, and Macie Black (2B)) led the way to a 13-0 win for the Giants. In their second game of pool play, the Giants managed just 4 hits, Ralee Burgett (2B), Khloe Kennedy (1), Heidi Garzarek (1), and Macie Black(1) but it was not enough as the Giant fell for their only loss of the day.

Moving into bracket play, the Birmingham Giants were paired up in the first round with Liberty fastpitch. Kendall Burch allowed no hits over 3 innings while striking out 9, and Abigail Erreca (2), Khloe Kennedy (2), Ralee Burgett (HR), Haylee Gothard (2B), Harper Riley (2B), Kendall Burch (1), Sophia Carroll (1), and Skylan Dyson (1) all had hits as the Giants coasted to a 12-0 win.

In their second bracket play game, Alyssa Broome allowed no hits over 4 innings, while striking out 9 and the Giants managed just 2 hits, a single from Abigail Erreca and a run scoring triple from Ralee Burgett as the Giants walked off a 1-0 win over Bomb Squad, advancing them to the Semi Finals.

Moving on to the Semi Finals, the Giants were set to face off with Red Storm. Alyssa Broome was again the starter in the circle, striking out 11 over 4 innings, while allowing just 2 hits and the Giants offense was paced by Ralee Burgett (1), Macie Black (1), Kendall Burch (2B), Skylan Dyson (1), and Alyssa Broom (2B). Skylan Dysons single in the last half of the 4th inning, driving in Kendall Burch powered the Giants to the finals.

In the Finals the Giants had a chance to avenge their only loss of the day. Kendall Burch struck out 7 over 4 innings, while allowing just 4 hits and Giants hitters found just 3 hits of their own, Abigail Erreca (1), Macie Black (3b), who scored the winning run on a wild pitch and Heidi Garzarek (1) but it was enough for a 3-2 win over Top Gun, bringing home the Championship for the Giants.
