12u Birmingham Giants finish 2nd

Raising their season mark to 20-5-1, the Birmingham giants continued their spring tournament season streak of not finishing below second by finishing 2nd again at the Field of Miracles in Culman on Sunday. Along with nothing the organizations 600th win all time, Peyton Jackson and Sylas Amick both homered twice in a single game to tie the club record, and Jarod Latta Notched his 2nd no hitter in as many weeks as the giants finished 3-1 on the day.

Sylas Amick Birmingham Giants

In game  1 of pool play, the Birmingham Giants faced off with the hitmen. A 7 run first inning, including back to back home runs from Amick and Jackson got the giants off and running, pacing the giants offense which amassed 12 hits , Kj Beck (1), Jarod Latta (1), Sylas Amick (HR), Peyton Jackson ( 2 HR), Bryant Akridge (2 , 1 2b), Kevin Hurley (2, 1 2b), Cameron Harris (1), Gavin Clanton (1), and Jayce Reason (1) all had hits. On the mound Bryant Akridge (3-0) allowed just 1 hit over 2 innings, while striking out 4, and Jayce Reason closed out the final inning for the 16-1 win.

 

Gavin Clanton Birmingham Giants

Jarod Latta tossed his 2nd no hitter of the season in game 2 of pool play, Striking out 8 over 4 innings, and Sylas Amick hit 2 home runs in the same game for the 3rd time as a Giant as the giants cruised to a 9-0 win. At the plate the Giants got hits from KJ Beck (1), Jarod Latta (1), Sylas Amick (2 HR), Peyton Jackson (1), Bryant Akridge (2b),  Cameron Harris (1), Kevin Hurley (1), and Gavin Clanton (1). The win seated the Giants first going into bracket play.

 

 

Peyton Jackson Birmingham Giants

In game 1 of bracket play, the Giants took on Aces baseball.  Bryant Akridge again took the mound, allowing just  2 hits over 4 innings, while striking out 5 for the 7-0 win.   The Giant hitters tallied 8 hits from KJ Beck (1), Syals Amick ( HR), Peyton Jckson (HR), Bryant Akridge (1), Kevin Hurley (1), Gavin Clanton (1), Jayce Reason (1), and Eayan Thomas (1) in the win. The win was the Birmingham Giants 600th All Time and moved the Giants into the finals, where they have been in every tournament they have played in the 2017 season.

In the championship, the Giants again played the Crushers, and while allowing just 2 hits, they managed just 1 of their own,Jayce Reason (1), stranding 7 runners in the 4-1 loss. Sylas Amick started the game pitching 4 innings,  striking out 9, and Jarod Latta pitched the final 2, striking out 4 in the loss.
