9u Giants roll off 4 in a row, bring home Championship


Playing in Boaz, the Birmingham Giants 9u Baseball team raised their season record to 15-5 with 4 straight wins in Boaz and a championship. In game 1 of pool play the Giants were paired with Plainview. Will Shoults allowed just 4 hits over 4 innings, while striking out 9 and Cam Buford closed out the final inning of the 7-4 win. Offensively the Giants had hits from Mason Jones (1), Tanner Egan (1), Cam Buford (2), Will Shoults (1), Berdis Blanding (1), and Ethan Passmore (1) that powered their 7 runs.

In their second game of pool play, the Giants faced off with the Rams. Using a 9 run first inning, the Giants cruised to an 18-2 win. Tanner Egan tossed 2 innings, striking out 3, and Landon Coleman Closed out the final inning of the 18-2 win. At the plate Mason Jones (1), Cam Buford (3), Will Shoults (3, 1 3b), Luke Francis (1), Jace Mulvehill (2, 1 2b), Landon Coleman (3b), and Miles Sanders (3b) all had hits as the Giants won, finishing pool play 2-0 and the number 1 seed.

In their first game of bracket play the Giants were matched up with the Cubs. Breaking the clubs 7 year old record, the Giants scored 28 runs and walked away with a 28-0 win. Tanner Egan and Landon Coleman combined for a No Hitter, and at the plate Tanner Egan (2), Cam Buford (3, 1 2b, 1 3b), Will Shoults (2, 1 2b), Luke Francis ( 2HR), Berdis Blanding (2b), Ethan Passmore (1), Jace Mulvehill (1), and Miles Sanders (1) all had hits for the Giants. The win sent the Giants to the championship game.

In the championship game, the Giants were again matched up with Plainview. After 5 first inning runs, the Giants won easily 10-1. Ethan Passmore struck out 10 over 4 innings, allowing just 1 hit and Mason Jones (1), Tanner Egan (1), Cam Buford (1), Luke Francis (2B), Landon Coleman (2, 1 2b), and Miles Sanders (1) all had hits as the Giants cruised to the Championship 10-1.
